Say Disney and the first thing that comes to my mind is children’s cartoons, princes and princesses, and of course, Mickey. We all know (and love) Mickey, but white and red polkas aren’t exactly the most practical style for all situations. So when one of my favorite high-street Indian brands announced a Mickey-inspired collection, I was a bit apprehensive until I actually saw the VEROMODAxMickey collection.
This month has felt a little lighter and brighter than usual. Part of it may be a literal brightness (thank you daylight savings time for making early mornings easier), but I can’t help but think that my Gratitude Challenge, which kicked off on April 1st, has been the reason for the extra kick in my step.
The weather has been such a spoilsport this year as it crushed my hopes every time I thought it was warm enough to sport a light jacket! I’m sure the rest of you are just as tired of this delayed spring. One way I’ve combatted the blues of a prolonged winter is by prepping my spring and summer wardrobe.
If you’ve been keeping tabs on me, you will know that #Shailoom turned one last month. Yes, one year ago, Shailin and I held our dream wedding in Mumbai and headed on a magical honeymoon to New Zealand. For the most part, everything that has followed has been just as great. Despite the initial challenge of getting my visa and moving to Belgium (if you want to read more about that, head here- link to that post), I can confidently say my first year of marriage was a dream.
Back when I started my blog in 2010, everything was completely different. My family members took my pictures, brand collaborations were NOTHING like they are today, people gave me funny looks when I told them what I did, Instagram had barely launched… the list goes on and on. One major difference was that there was no one who had previously done what I was doing. Yes, this was great because I got to be a pioneer, especially in the blogging industry back in India. But the downside was that there was no one to look up to as inspiration either. Having strong role models can make such a huge difference in accelerating your career, especially for #WomenInBusiness, so when I heard about a recent initiative by one of my favorite brands, Dior, I was obviously thrilled at the possibility of impact this could create for so many women just like me.
