Best Boutique Hotels in Antwerp

Moving to Antwerp has brought along the opportunity to visit several hotels in the city that make me wish I had never moved here! Why? Because having a house here means not being able to stay as a guest in any of these beautiful hotels!

As someone who has planned lots of trips, I know that the struggle is real when it comes to finding a great hotel to stay at – one with yummy food, friendly staff, and, let’s be honest, beautiful Instagrammable decor. Plus, I can’t ignore the huge task of packing a vacation wardrobe! Check my Google search history and “What to wear in…” is without a doubt the phrase I search most.

To tackle any vacation dressing crisis, I have found myself increasingly turning to The Loom, an online retailer that specializes in contemporary Indian wear. I love throwing on a tee-shirt with a pair of The Loom’s cotton palazzo pants for a long-haul flight. And their muslin midi-length dresses pair so well with my favorite pair of sneakers, making a perfect outfit for a day of sightseeing. The Loom’s huge selection of clothing makes dressing comfortably AND stylishly so easy. Seriously, check out their website and you’ll be inundated with clothes that stay true to traditional Indian production processes, while also looking fresh and modern. If you’re planning a trip to Antwerp, I highly recommend splurging on some pieces from The Loom because they have items that will be able to take you from day to night in this beautiful city!

So now that I’ve told you what clothing to pack for a trip to Antwerp, I guess it’s time I tell you which hotel to stay at. Well, there’s no one magic hotel that I can recommend to everyone because everyone’s tastes and expectations are different, but here are the four boutique hotels in Antwerp that really stand out to me; and who knows? Maybe you’ll catch me checking-in for a little staycation!

Hotel de Witte Lelie

Built in the 17th century, this hotel is THE destination for fulfilling your ‘picture perfect’ Instagram fantasies. Think leopard print couches, Marilyn Monroe themed wallpaper, enormous floral displays, and glorious millennial pink furniture to make you pink in the face! Each room has a different combination of mismatched prints and patterns, making it an eccentric space. So be warned if you’re looking for something a tad bit calmer and subtle. However, if you like loud and over-the-top, you’ll wonder how the decor here somehow looks amazing together! So

amazing that you may never leave your room to explore outside because you’ll be busy clicking pics for the ’gram.

HotelO Antwerpen Kathedral

For all the minimalists out there, this modern and sophisticated boutique hotel is the place to be.

The best part of this hotel is its central location, on the square of the Cathedral of Our Lady, and if you’re lucky, your room might have a view of its gorgeous architecture.

Speaking of the rooms: they stick to a black and white color palette that risk the danger of being a bit dreary. If you’re lucky, your room might be accented with a wall mural inspired by a famous Dutch painter, but that’s not

guaranteed and you might end up spending your trip in an extremely dark room. This hotel has an astounding dining category, though. You can’t leave this place without visiting their cozy, gold-accented bar or satiating your sweet tooth at their chocolate and coffee bar SOFIE SUCRÉE

Besides, what’s the point of coming to Belgium if you’re not going to go all out with the dessert?

Hotel Franq

Fancy staying in a hotel that used to be a bank back in the day? If the answer is yes, Franq Hotel, the perfect combination of historical charm and contemporary design, is your place. The lounge areas are bright and airy making them a great place to relax after a tiring day of sight-seeing. You cannot miss dining at the chic and elegant in-house restaurant for authentic, fresh, and beautifully prepared Belgian cuisine. While these shared spaces are extremely well-designed, keep in mind that the

decor in the rooms is comparatively simpler and unexciting compared to the rest of the hotel.

Hotel Indigo Antwerp

The rooms at Hotel Indigo are a vision. They, seriously, turn me into a real-life version of the heart eyes emoji!A collection of spectacular paintings hang against the azure and blush walls making each room uniquely luxurious. However, one downside is that the rooms and the lobby could be bigger. So if you’ve packed a lot of luggage or are coming with a large group of people, you’ll need to find a more spacious setting to unwind. This hotel makes up for its convenient location (right behind Antwerp’s central train station) and a restaurant that will perk you up when inevitable Belgian waffle cravings strike! So have you started booking your plane tickets and hotel rooms yet? If not, start right away! Antwerp is a gorgeous city and these hotels are just the icing on the cake.
